On November 19, magazine i-D published their recent interview with BLACKPINK’s Rosé, where the female idol discusses various topics, including her career, perspectives, and even a surprising relationship with Taylor Swift.
However, a segment of the interview garnered massive attention, as Rosé was asked to comment on NewJeans’ “revolt against HYBE”. Responding to this, Rosé simply answered, “I want to talk about positive things. I love those girls so much.”
Later on, I ask about what she thinks of NewJeans’ recent revolt against Hybe, their label, over the shafting of their executive producer Min Hee-jin. With a mouthful of Tasmanian sea trout, she raises her eyebrows and shakes her head in a tiny motion. ‘I want to talk about positive things. I love those girls so much.’
While many people cheered as Rosé showed support for NewJeans as a fellow artist, the aforementioned question has sparked not-so-positive reactions from fans and other netizens alike.
In particular, fans noted that Rosé raised her eyebrow and shook her head when hearing the question, suggesting that the female idol was uncomfortable and wholly unrelated to her.
“Why would they ask her this?”, a netizen commented, while another wrote, “What a weird question to ask her…”.
Some even called the reporter “unprofessional” for trying to divert focus to another matter in a Rosé-focused interview.
